Being able to provide evidence from sources in a paper is extremley important and beneficial to improve the quality of the paper. It is even better when you are able to relate your own ideas to others using evidence. I feel I have improved throughout the semester at being able to better incorporate my sources. In paper 3 I talked about how theres is a lack of empathy for the people who have Morgellons. I encorporated the a quote from “Devil’s Bait” by Leslie Jamison that helped to link my ideas of a lack of empathy. Jamison said “It is bad enough that these people are suffering so terribl. But to be the topic of the seemingly biggest joke in the world is way too much for sick people to bear (224)”. I then talk about how I think more empathy could be used to help make these people feel more comfortable. I pulled out this quote because it went extremely well along with my own ideas and the flow of the paper. I related to Jamison’s quote by saying ” In this scenario, empathy could be used as a useful and helpful tool. Even if Morgellons is not a physical disease, it is definitely a mental disease. People say that Morgellosn patients are crazy, but at the end of the day something is happening with these people that is affecting them to not feel good and that is a problem.” I think this example demonstrated how I have been able to succsesfully use my sources to relate to my own ideas.
